I kept wondering why the natives thought he was so attractive since he was white, but I finally understand, that of course, he symbolizes the way the native people got sucked in by the bead traders and bible thumpers. The whole mysterious stranger coming into town was a shocking experience. During the last twenty-five years of his life, Drew Hayden Taylor has done many things, most of which he is proud of. And the world moved on. And the book is just so pretty to look at, the cover is in one of my favourite colours:

This conflict was the most incredible part of the novel, the writer portrayed every scene of their fight and it showed the courage and confidence swdetgrass this character. And just about everything in between.

While I unde This is the first sweetgrsss in a long time to grab my attention and refuse to let go – I stayed up too late three nights in a row to finish it.
Being a curious teenager, Virgil sneaks a look in his grandmother’s window and spies the stranger kissing his grandmother in a surprisingly passionate manner. Sweetgrasd, in Drew’s words, I’m a “wanabee” or “shouldabeen” Indian, and I like myths, this book was a wonderful read for me.
I was hoping there was more stuff to Lillian’s past and what not, and I was hoping Sammy would be cured, but mohorcycles, it was not meant to be. It has a YA feel to it, but that is in no way a knock on its worth, of course. It got really sad when the book got on the topic of the residential schools and what some of the children went through but the book was still a delight to read.
